Will not arrive in Q1 2012 as thought

In what can best be described as a marketing decision, according to Take-Two (our words, not theirs) the company has decided to move the release date of the XCOM reboot back. Take-Two claims that they don’t think there is room for both Max Payne 3 and XCOM in the same month, which sounds like marketing speak to us.

While the new XCOM offering was slated for a March 6th release, it looks that now it could drop sometime between April 1st 2012 and March 31st 2012; and if we were betting on it, our sources say that toward the end of that window is very likely, although no one really knows when it might actually drop.

A number of changes have taken place at Take-Two since the announcement of the new XCOM, including strong indications that the 2K studio in Australia was the victim of a number of layoffs over the past couple of months. It is unknown if this is any part of the reason that Take-Two opted to delay the XCOM’s release.
