Motorola Xoom to get Ice Cream Sandwich

Written by Fuad Abazovic

First

Take this with a grain of salt, but we have heard it repeatedly. Motorola’s Xoom might be the first tablet to get Ice Cream Sandwich, Android 4.0.

We were wondering why is that, and then a colleague of mine reminded me Google acquired Motorola mobility, and it all started to make perfect sense.

This Tegra 2 based was extremely overpriced at launch and users now just got an offer to upgrade for free on USA 4G network. We hope that our sources got things right, but we don't have any ETA on this.

We can definitely confirm that most of currently popular Android tablets including Asus Transformer 1 and 2, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Sony, Lenovo and a few others are getting Ice Cream Sandwich and since some of them have their own user interface and other tweaks, it will take some time for them to show up.

So let's wait and see if Xoom gets Ice Cream Sandwich first. This would be a nice positive surprise for early Android tablet adopters.
