Kal El Tegra 3 has more design wins than Tegra 2

Jensen confirms to Dow Jones
We got a tip that Nvidia's CEO has gone on the record confirming that Kal El, Tegra 3 has more design wins than Tegra 2.

He also confirmed that the chip will be on the market before US holiday season and added:"this quarter (Q3 that ends with September 2011) or Q4 2011". Other industry sources are confirming that Kal El gets a lot of attention and we again confirmed that Asus Transformer 2 will be the first device to come with this quad core 40nm chip, the one that has better power consumption than Tegra 2.

Our sources claim that we should see Kal El in early Q4 2011, where October is the month to hope to see one in market. We also heard that the keyboard dock + battery should stay compatible from the original Asus Transformer power with Tegra 2, which is quite good news.

Jensen also said that he sees Tegra business a a 1 billion dollar business for Nvidia in 2012, which will definitely make some nice money to Nvidia, much more than just to fill the void that was left when Nvidia left out the chipset business.

You can get some more details here.

HA HA HA. Huang lives in a little dream world, doesn't he? He claimed hundreds of design wins for Tegra 2, and how many of them materialized? A handful.

Now he claims even more the Kal-El? What is he smoking, I want some.

Nvidia will be gone within 2 years, absolutely no doubt about it.

Yeah, sure, 37 designs is nothing, and there are even more which aren't listed here. Get a clue.

I still can't understand how a quad-core chip can have better power consumption than a dual-core one, considering that they are both 40nm.
OK, maybe it's true but only for normal usage cases not full load. There is no way it can consume less under full load.
I still think we won't see many phones with kal-el. It's better suited for tablets.

Nvidia will be gone within 2 years, absolutely no doubt about it.If that would be true do u think AMD will continue to keep prices low and won't rise prices as they would not have a real competitor
I'm talking about desktop GPUs here, Nvidia won't be gone, it will be owned by Intel, after 2-3 years Nvidia brand will dissapear same like ATI. That would eventually kill AMD as their only advantage are much better GPUs than Intel.(just my thoughts)

and Tegra2 is good product but not great, the same probably goes to Tegra3

Nvidia is doing great. They have much better financials than AMD, not to mention better graphics. the pro market is all Nvidia because they have to have the best drivers and no micro stuttering cheap crap.

We don't know how fast kal-el is. It might be faster than competition, but then again maybe not. We have to wait and see.
