Dead Island sold out?

Initial shipments apparently sold out
According to two retail sources that we spoke with, the initial shipment of the just released Dead Island is apparently sold out for the moment. The Techland-developed action horror title has sold much better than expected, which led to much higher demand and the title being sold out.

While we hear that there is a copy here and there that are floating around and maybe even a copy of the limited edition release of Dead Island, if you didn’t happen to snag one by now you are going to be waiting at least a couple of weeks till more copies hit retailer shelves again.  In a spot check, we found it back ordered on Game Stop’s web site but a copy available here and there at retail units. Our check of our independent friends found a much different story, with all of them we spoke with out of stock and not expecting any copies for a week or two.

The news that the title is selling well has to be exciting for Deep Silver and Techland, but it is unknown if gamers will still be thinking about Dead Island when it comes back in stock in about two weeks. It is possible Deep Silver and Techland might have missed the golden window, but we will have to see how this turns out.

The other point of note is that the reviews for Dead Island seem to be all over the place, with some reviews liking the game while others finding it not living up to the pre-sales hype.
