HP TouchPad to get Android port

by on23 August 2011

Suddenly we want one
Last week HP announced it is dropping WebOS and thus pulling the plug on its TouchPad tablet. This came as no surprise as sales were slow and reviewers were not kind to HP at all.

With fire sale prices starting at just $99 the TouchPad quickly turned into a proper bargain, but consumers still weren’t sold on WebOS. Well, it appears some developers chose to port Gingerbread to the dying tablet and work seems to be progressing quite well.

It is still unclear when the port will be made available to the public, but some expect it to appear this week. Hopefully there will still be $99 TouchPads in stock by the time developers are done tinkering with it.

More here.
