WD ships skinny 2.5-inch 1TB drive

Written by Fudzilla staff

9.5mm for anorexic notebooks
Western Digital has started shipping a 2.5-inch hard drive with a twist. The 1TB Scorpio Blue is a two platter design, so it’s just 9.5mm thick.

The new drive will allow vendors to install quite a bit more capacity in notebooks designs with an emphasis on portability.

Of course, don’t expect to see 1TB drives in Atom or Fusion netbooks anytime soon. It costs $139, so it will be reserved for upmarket notebooks for the time being.
