Black Ops to get 4th map pack?

About ten days ago, we heard a rumor that Treyarch was considering the release of a fourth map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops. Treyarch designer David Vonderhaar has apparently hinted to Digital Spy that he can’t talk about anything beyond the Annihilation map pack, but suggested that we should “keep our eyes peeled,” which in this business isn’t a denial.

With three map packs already in the bag for Black Ops, and with the third just being released today on Xbox Live, one has to wonder if keeping the momentum up for Black Ops with another map pack is really necessary - with Modern Warfare 3 just around the corner this holiday season. Then again, we have to think that the strategy to milk all you can out of the title with more paid DLC is going to be the way of things from now on.

Our take is that if a fourth map pack is in development, it must have already been decided to be targeted for release prior to the release of Modern Warfare 3. Maybe the release could be timed to try to steal some thunder from the Battlefield 3 launch? We think that it is at least possible.
