Blizzard to do Diablo III for consoles

Written by David Stellmack

No more mystery about if it is happening
It seems that the waiting and wondering if Blizzard will finally enter the console market is coming to an end. Blizzard is confirmed to be hiring a senior producer specifically for the console version of Diablo III and they are moving forward on this project.

Blizzard is looking for an experienced senior producer who has experience with shipping at least one AAA console title in this role. As Mike Morhaime, CEO of Blizzard, confirmed at the DICE summit, the company had been looking at the possibility of bringing Diablo III to the console market space.

No one knows when a console version of Diablo III might arrive or if it will arrive at the same time as the PC version. It is very likely, however, that it will not arrive this year and it is more likely for a 2012 release, based on the latest information from Activision. Still, whispers that we hear suggest that more details surrounding the specifics will be announced during E3 in June, including confirmation of what consoles the title will be arriving for; but it is a safe bet that it will be for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

...and there it goes, the last major PC-centric developer is doing console games. I know they had planned a game for the GameCube, but now they're actually doing it. It's a sad day.

I liked it a lot better, say in the 1990s. PCs had PC games, consoles had console games. You had first person shooters, real-time and turn-based strategy, flight sims (COMBAT!), and RPGs on the PC. You had excellent platformers, fighters, sports games, and JRPGs on the consoles. Now we have Duty Calls 7: Get Yo Mother[censored ]in' Guns! for both platforms. We're lesser for it.

Where is the prob ? It looks like a port from pc to console, so the way it should normally be. PC gets THE version and consoles the dumbed down for limited controls and hardware, everybody happy, specially Blizz.

Indeed it is sad. And not only this, but now it is often to see games first developed for consoles and than released on PC.

That would be Ok though, if the games were of deserving quality on all platforms. Sadly they are not!

I am not going to buy any new PC hardware until the new consoles come out. I have grown tired of piss ass textures, geometry and AI directly resulting from these crappy consoles incompetence!

Thankfully, from what I've seen so far from DIII videos, it seems that it will be a worthy PC game.

what's wrong with it? it is not like we are getting a console game ported to PC.

As long as Blizzard prioritize the PC platform, then I'm okay with it.

Fans'll stick to PC, but splitting player base in a co op game?. Quality shouldnt(?) be affected, PC almost finished, console not started. (dont delay release date, grrr)

But gameplay? They say 'its suited' but Point-click hack n slash, cannot work on console control,
so its altered gameplay is guaranteed to be inferior?. :o

inferior- naturally less enemies on screen, slower atk rate, you get the idea, maybe DMC style but ultimately thats not D3 (and whats a game without a challenge?).

Good move by blizzard an another PC exclusive bows down and bites the dust to the console. It won't be a big hit on the console no matter what they do to it.

Thanks for taking the time to type out what could quite possibly be the most ill-informed, badly written, speculative falsehood yet! How shall you top this one?
