Acer demos 10-inch Iconia 500

Written by Fudzilla staff

MWC 2011: 1GHz Tegra 2, Honeycomb
Acer is proudly showing off its Iconia 500 in Barcelona and the stylish tablet now features Honeycomb as well.

We played around with the Iconia a few weeks ago at CES. Back then it still ran Froyo, but now it got a proper OS and it's probably coming to the market soon.

The Iconia 500 features a 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, 512MB of memory, 10.1-inch screen and 16GB of storage. It also packs mini HDMI, USB and two cameras, 5MP on the back and 1.3MP on the front.

Still no word on price or the exact launch date.

If we could benchmark this with Iconia WP1 with AMD Fusion 1Ghz cpu it would be better for us to understand how much an ARM competes with much complex x86 processor.

Tablets are overpriced underachieving toys for materialistic people.

Where are the Bobcat netbooks? There is only one on Newegg though it's got the 1GHz CPU, we want to see something actually useful like an E-350 APU, less than $600 and you've got a decent netbook that you can do a bit of light gaming with your buddies and do everything a tablet can do though without a screen that's devastatingly liable to end up getting scratched like a scratch post for cats.
