Activision unable to find a buyer
Things have apparently gone from bad to worse for developer Bizarre Creations. Word is now that despite the best efforts from owner Activision, they have not been able to find a buyer for the developer responsible for the development of such titles as the Project Gotham Racing series, Blur, and the most recent release, James Bond Bloodstone.

While Activision says that they have continued to seek a buyer in order to keep the studio together, no buyer emerged despite rumors that several publishers showed interest. The rumor that had been circulating is that Microsoft had been considering reacquiring the studio to develop PGR 5 which is the next chapter in the Project Gotham Racing franchise. Sources tell us that while Microsoft might have considered this option, apparently no talks or deal was ever started.

As for the studio that had already been put on notice by Activision, it is confirmed now that the studio has been recommended for closure. According to the whispers we are hearing from our sources close to the situation, barring some sort of last minute miracle closure is all but assured.

As we told you previously, Activision was unhappy (to say the least) over the large investment that they made in the studio to develop Blur which, despite very positive reviews, didn’t sell very well. Some have suggested that the video game racing market is changing and Blur, despite all of its innovative ideas, didn’t find an audience.
After Blur, the studio worked on the 007 Bloodstone title, which also was not the smash hit that the studio needed to escape the situation that they are in now.
