Outside is a place not often discussed amongst technology people who prefer a warm indoors, surrounded by their gadgets. But Motion seems to believe that there is a type of geek that needs a rugged tablet which they can use as they try to scale Mount Everest or paddle a canoe up the Amazon. After all, there is nothing worse than not being able to check your facebook while you are wrestling an anaconda.
The CL900 is supposed to be dust, water, and splash resistant for outdoor business use. It has a thick, rubber-bumpered exterior and a tough Gorilla Glass screen. It can manage a not too bad eight hours of battery life and is powered by the new Intel Atom “Oak Trail” 1.5GHz processor. It has 30GB and 60GB models (SSD), built-in Wi-Fi, 1-2 GB of RAM, an aluminum-alloy frame, and a 10.1-inch widescreen LED display designed to be visible even in the sun.
While you still can't use it underwater it is a bit more solid than your average tablet. Motion uses a modified version of Windows 7, a desktop operating system so that it can easily integrate with existing businesses that primarily run Windows 7 software and PCs. Stylus support and a number of peripherals and docks will also be available. No word on price.
