Cataclysm sets PC sales record

by on14 December 2010

Who says PC gaming is dead?
PC gaming isn’t dead is the message that we are hearing from Activision Blizzard, with the news that the recently released World of Warcraft: Cataclysm add-on has set a new all-time single day sales record for the PC platform.

In 24 hours, Blizzard was able to sell a record setting 3.3 million copies of the game, which is an impressive number when you consider that the majority of major console titles don’t even do that well on the first day of release. Add to this that it actually is an expansion pack, and that just makes the number more amazing. The previous record was 2.8 million copies for the PC platform in 24 hours.

While PC gaming does not appear to be dead if you are Warcraft, many other publishers are hopeful that they can capture some of this magic as a number of other titles are upcoming for PC release; and it would be nice to see the PC recapture some of the gaming glory that it seems to have lost to the consoles these days.
