Sharp's Galapagos tablets ready for December

Written by Slobodan Simic

All but cheap

Sharp's announced Galapagos tablets have finally been dated and both should be available on December 10th, at least in Japan. The 5.5-inch Mobile and 10.8-inch Home Galapagos tablets will have a rather steep price tag, which will probably be explained by Sharp's e-bookstore idea.

The big 10.8-inch Home model equipped with an 8GB microSDHC card will be priced at ¥54,800 (US $653) which still ends up cheaper than Apple's 32GB WiFi iPad. This one has a 1366 x 800 LCD screen and weighs 765 grams.

The smaller, 5.5-inch Home will stick with the 1024 x 600 resolution, it weighs 220 grams and has a ¥39,800 ($474) price tag. Both models have 802.11bg WiFi while the rest of the specs are still blurry.

All we need now are the EU and the USA dates and prices.
