The U.S. wants to set up a surveillance system so that all Internet traffic gets looked at by security agents.

According to the /Wall Street Journal/, the Director of National Intelligence, Mike McConnell, the plan requires all data crossing the Internet in the United States to be looked at in order to protect it from abuse.

Called the CyberSecurity initiative, the cunning plan is designed to stop hackers from bringing down the Web. He pointed out that if those 9/11 terrorists had concentrated all their efforts on bringing down a single bank through a cyber attack they would have done more damage than flying planes into buildings.
