THQ acquires Big Huge Games

For $20 to $40 million 

 

Today, THQ announced their plans for acquiring Big Huge Games, the company behind titles such as Rise of Nations, Alpha Centaury and Civilization II. As was agreed, Big Huge Games will continue to exist as an independent part of the company; they willl keep their management, as well as all their employees.

Jack Sorensen, THQ’s VP says: “Acquiring Big Huge Games is a great gain and a step forward improving our internal development resources, as well as the portfolio of stocks we own. History of Big Huge Games is full of great titles, and we’re looking forward to developing a couple of new ones.”

Tim Train, the President of Big Huge Games, claims he’s thrilled to be a part of THQ: “We believe that their passion for games, professional support, as well as understanding the creative process in games development ,is unprecedented in this branch of industry.”

Big Huge Games is currently working on a new RPG for THQ, and a couple of console projects are also in the works.
