A new Archos internet tablet with Android 2.2 (Froyo) is now shipping. The Archos 43 uses a 4.3-inch 854x480 display, has Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth connectivity as well as an HDMI output.

For a buck short of $200 you get 16GB of on-board storage, which can be expanded with a microSD card. In the heart of the beast is an ARM Cortex A8 running at 1GHz with DSP and graphics support for 3D OpenGL ES 2.0. The screen displaying video at 720p through its HDMI port when connected to an HD TV. It is also capable of HD video recording at 720p with its built-in 2MP rear-facing camera.

On the sound side it can manage FLAC lossless audio playback. This means that it is more flexible than an iPod touch, which it appears to resemble. The Archos 43 also supports the Samba and UPnP protocols allowing users to connect to media servers and their computers to stream media wirelessly.

It is compatible with Linux, Windows XP, Vista and 7, as well as Mac OS X. The Archos 43 is available through the Archos online store for $250 but we have seen it for $190 so you might want to shop around.
