Pricey VIA powered midget

Maxdata has launched the Belinea s.book 1, a tiny 7-inch VIA powered notebook in the EU. You might think that it has its sights set on the Asus Eee, but this machine offers much more functionality at almost twice the price.

It's powered by a VIA C7-M 1.20GHz ULV processor, has 1 gigabyte of memory, an 80GB hard drive, a 7" 800x480 touch screen, and unlike the Eee, it comes with Windows XP Professional. The VX700 integrated graphics also have a DVI connector which might be very practical for presentations, and there's an integrated VoIP-Phone too.

The machine weighs 1.1kg and Belinea offers a 24-month warranty. It's listed at around 730 Euro, here. You'll agree that this doesn't sound too cheap, especially considering that you can get a full blooded 12-inch for that much, not to mention the Eee PC.

There's one other, rather major drawback: this notebook isn not going to win any beauty contests and looks are a big deal when it comes to ultra portable notebooks.
