Likely to be announced at Mac Expo

Sources are reporting that Fox has signed a deal with Apple to make DVD titles available via iTunes. The deal is said to allow a protected limited lifespan rental that will be delivered to Apple devices through the iTunes store. The agreement is said to be the precursor for allowing Apple to deliver on-demand video downloads for current titles at a later date.

Apple will be extending is DRM technology, which is known as FairPlay, to Video iPod devices. Currently, Apple only has Walt Disney, which is allowing newer titles to be sold through the iTunes store. Apple does have agreements in place with Lionsgate, Paramount and MGM, who are selling older content through the music store. It has been suggested that Apple will announce more details surrounding the new agreement during Mac Expo, which will start on January 14th, 2008.
