Computex 2009: ION flavored DIY

The guys from PCPerspective managed to score some pictures of OCZ's newest announcements at Computex, and if their post is right, OCZ's Neutrino DIY netbook will be moving to Nvidia's ION platform as well.

In addition to the ION based HTPC and new 17-inch DIY gaming notebook, OCZ is apparently planning to switch its small DIY Neutrino netbook to the ION platform as well. We already wrote about its ION based HTPC and the new DIY 17-inch gaming system, the small Neutrino will also get the Nvidia's ION treatment.

It will be based on Intel's Atom 230 single-core CPU clocked at 1.6GHz, same 10.1-inch screen and 1GB of DDR2 memory that can be easily upgraded to 2GB. If it's anything like the previous Neutrino, the new ION based system will be shipped without memory and the HDD, so you can pick your favorite from OCZ's extensive product lineup. Our best bet is that OCZ will offer these with its memory and SSDs, but for those that are looking for something cheaper, a plain 160GB HDD SATA hard drive is always an option.

The design was a bit altered as well and the new Neutrino apparently has a larger keyboard with larger palm rest and touchpad, but as this is the first time that OCZ has showed this product we are not sure if the final one will be the same.

The previous Neutrino came with Linux Ubuntu OS with Windows XP as an option. we are quite sure that this is the case with this one as well, but we will wait until we hear OCZ's official announcement.
