15.6-incher with Core i5

MSI has announced yet another notebook model based on Intel's Calpella platform, the P600. The new P600 aims at a business oriented part of the market and this 2.41kg 15.6-incher packs quite a punch with Intel's Core i5 CPU.

As MSI has listed the CPU as Intel Core i5 we guess that there will be a quite a few SKUs depending on the CPU model, HDD size and amount of memory. The P600 has a 15.6-inch 16:9 LED backlit screen that is listed as a "glare-type" although it appears to be matte.

The dimensions are 39.2x25.5x3.63cm and it weighs 2.41kg with an 8-cell battery. It is based on Intel's HM55 chipset, uses Intel's GMA integrated graphics, has two SO-DIMM DDR3 slots with support for up to 4GB of memory, up to 500GB of 2.5-inch HDD and features HDMI and D-Sub outputs, two USB 2.0 ports and one eSATA/USB combo port as well as the 802.11bgn and Bluetooth.

It will feature MSI's ECO Engine power saving technology that should give him a bit more battery life that MSI rates at around eight hours.

The new P600 looks quite sleek, elegant and most importantly simple, something that business oriented part of the market know to appreciate. The price or the precise availability date haven't been announced but we guess that it will show up in retail pretty soon.
