Acer is the first manufacturer to show a netbook based on Nvidia's ION 2 platform. The Aspire One 532G features Intel's Pinetrail Atom N450 CPU and an ION 2 GPU with 512MB of video memory.

The Aspire One 532G has a 10.1-inch LED backlit screen and weighs around 1kg. Specs wise, the new netbook doesn't bring anything new that we haven't seen in an army of similar netbooks, except of course, for Nvidia's ION 2 GPU. As you could have guessed, the new Aspire One will use Nvidia's recently announced Optimus "switchable graphics" technology which means that it will use both the integrated GMA 3150 IGP and the dedicated GPU from Nvidia.

Nvidia's Optimus will take care of the battery life, as the "real GPU" will kick in whenever it is needed. The battery life is rated at up to 10 hours which is a nice result considering that the actual ION 2 GPU has a lot to offer when compared to Intel's GMA 3150 IGP.
