Convertible tablet version coming too
In addition to the price Skylight smartbook, Lenovo has announced a
couple of new IdeaPad netbooks based on Intel's new Pinetrail platform.
The S10-3 features a classic netbook layout, with a 10.1-inch screen
and a cute chicklet keyboard, but it's a nice improvement on the old
S10-2, as it offers 2GB of memory and 320GB of storage. It will feature
Intel's 1.83GHz Atom N470 and GMA 3150, but we guess it will also be
available with the slightly cheaper N450 processor. Lenovo seems to
have done a Dell on the trackpad and integrated the buttons under the
touch sensitive surface. This solution takes some getting used to, but
we'd take it over an undersized trackpad any day.
The S10-3t is a convertible tablet version and apparently it's the
world's first convertible netbook with a capacitative multitouch
touchscreen. Judging by the pictures, the S10-3t has a somewhat smaller
footprint than the regular S10-3 and it features a standard keyboard.
It has a somewhat smaller trackpad, too, but that really isn't much of
a drawback as it's got a touchscreen.
Both netbooks feature WiFi, Bluetooth, optional WWAN, 4- or 8-cell
batteries and ship with three flavours of Windows 7: Starter, Home
Basic or Premium.
Prices will start at $350 for the cheapest S10-3, while the convertible S10-3t will sell for $500 or more.
