Pineview for 7hr of battery life

We managed to score some additional details on the upcoming MSI Wind U135 netbook based on Intel's Pinetrail platform.

The dimensions are 260x180x19-31.5mm and it weighs around 1.2kg with a 3-cell battery. The new U135 is quite simple when it comes to specs as there is not many things that can actually be changed, and every manufacturer will have a system with similar specifications.

The MSI U135 has a LED backlit 10-inch glare screen with 1024x600 resolution and it's powered by Intel's Atom N450 CPU working at 1.66GHz which is paired with GMA3150 graphics and NM10 chipset. It will support up to 2GB of DDR2 667 memory in a single DIMM slot and will have a 160GB and larger 2.5-inch SATA hard drive.

The rest of the specs include 802.11bgn WiFi, 1.3M webcam, card reader, either a 3-cell or 6-cell battery and Microsoft Windows 7 Starter for OS. It has three USB ports, LAN, and D-Sub output.

The few things that MSI wants to point out on this notebook are the chiclet keyboard, a 6.5cm touchpad and a Color Film Print which is apparently much better than the UV painting as it leaves less fingerprints but gives better colour and nicer feel to it.

MSI is talking about a 7hr battery life for the 6-cell version, which is apparently a 15 percent increase over the last Intel Atom platform. The new platform also has about 10 percent overall performance increase according to MSI. The main question is the price which is rumoured at around US $350 and we are sure that this will be the key that will separate big manufacturers from those small ones.

The Wind U135 will be available in four colour options, Wind dancer black, Refined Silver, Trendy Blue and Cherry Red. Here are some pictures of the new Wind U135.
