Pixel Qi display and Tegra based

The guys from Slashgear.com managed to score some renders and details of one quite interesting "smartpad" similar to the Tegra equipped IDC Vega "fridge magnet" that we had a chance to see before. The new smartpad will feature a not yet announced Nvidia Tegra T20 chipset as well as the Pixel Qi transflective display, something that is yet another thing scheduled for CES 2010.

The Notion Ink smartpad is a bit similar but then again quite different from the 15.6 IDC Vega. The first difference is in its actual use, as the IDC Vega is more of in-home device while Notion Ink's smartpad is much more mobile. It has a 160x250x15mm (HxWxD) dimensions and weighs just under 800 grams (1.7 pounds). It has UMTS/HSDPA, GSM/EDGE, Bluetooth as well as the 802.11bg Wifi connectivity and features 10.1-inch Pixel Qi 1024x600 display.

The touch-screen display is quite unique as it has a non-glare matte scratch and fingerprint-resistant finish and the display itself acts as a normal LCD when viewed indoors, and in transflective mode with reduced color vibrancy or fully reflective 64-level grayscale mode when viewed outdoors. The Pixel Qi display should show up on other devices as well during CES 2010.

The rest of the specs for the Notion Ink include Assisted GPS, Digital Compas, Accelerometer, Proximity sensor, Ambient light and water sensor, 3MP camera with autofocus, integrated microphone and speakers, 16 or 32GB SSD, support for SD cards, HDMI and USB ports, as well as an ability to decode 1080p H.264 content thanks to that tiny giant better known as Nvidia Tegra.

It features a built-in Li-Ion battery which is rumoured to have a 48hr standby or 8 hours of HD video playback which is an impressive result. The only question left unanswered is the price which should be announced at CES 2010.

It will be quite interesting to see this device at CES and we are sure that many more interesting Tegra devices will attract a lot of attention at CES 2010.
