After digging a bit deeper into Atom N45x and N47x DDR3 support we managed to find out that the same CPU can support DDR2 memory.

These new Atoms will coexist with Atom N450 and N470, but the new ones with N45x and N47x brands will work with either DDR2 or DDR3.

The new Atom can cope with DDR2 667 or DDR3 667 which is not impressive, but it is enough for netbooks and it is not that memory speed plays a key role in netbook performance anyway. We won't say it out loud that Intel has probably borrowed some ideas from rival AMD and in the last five years, Intel got a lot of ideas from the weaker environmentally green company.

The only good thing is that DDR3 needs a bit less current to work, but you wont notice that in netbooks that ship in the latter part of 2010.
