Did you ever wake up and think 'I want a big, heavy, ugly and
expensive notebook with a pair of Nvidia 3D Vision glasses'? If you
did, Asus has something for you, and we're sure the local shrink would
also be quite thrilled to see you.
The Republic of Gamers Asus G51J-SZ028V is the first lappie to sport a
15.6-inch 120Hz screen, making it compatible with 3D Vision. It's full
HD, and GeForce GTX 260M graphics with 1GB of memory should be enough
to cope with it. The quad-core
1.6 GHz Intel Core i7 720QM processor should be more than enough for any user. You can get up to 2 x 500GB of storage, Blu-day,
eSATA, HDMI and Nvidia's 3D Vision glasses. With a 6-cell battery it measures 395 x 277 x 44 mm and
weighs 3.5kg, which is more than an average 17-incher.
Apart from the fact that it's big, ghastly and powered by a CPU that
generates as much heat as a low yield nuke blast, the dork factor of
wearing 3D Vision glasses on the go will probably get you beat up on
any form of public transport. There's no word on pricing yet, but we
suspect it will be in the two-limb range.
