13- and 14-inchers with discrete GPUs
BenQ has launched two thin-and-lights based on Intel's ULV parts, the 13.3-inch JoyBook S35 and 14-inch JoyBook S43.
The 13.3-inch unit weighs 1.6kg and BenQ is promising up to 11 hours of
battery life on an 8-cell battery, or 5.5 on the standard 4-cell unit.
The 14-inch S43 weighs 2.1kg, but it packs an ODD and optional Radeon
HD 4330 discrete graphics. Battery life for the 14-incher is 5 hours on
a 4-cell power pack.
Spec-wise there's not much to complain about. Both models feature
1366x768 LED backlit screens, a choice of single core Celeron 723/743
or Core 2 Solo SU3500 CPUs, as well as the new dual-core SU7300. You
can also opt for up to 500GB of storage, and you get HDMI, draft-n
wireless and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR. No word on possible UMTS support
though.
The new JoyBooks are already shipping in Asia, but it's unclear when (or if) BenQ will offer them in Euroland or North America.
