Exclusive: Atom 230 and 6-cell battery

We managed to get our hands on some exclusive pictures and specifications of Point Of View's ION based Mobii netbook that should be announced shortly. The new ION based Mobii uses Intel's Atom 230 1.6GHz CPU and Nvidia's Geforce 9400 ION GPU.

The rest of the specs include a 10.2-inch 1024x600 LED LCD screen, 1GB of DDR2 memory and a 160GB hard drive. The new Mobii ION 230 also features an SD/MMC card reader, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, 1.3M webcam, Gigabit LAN, two USB ports, optional Bluetooth v2.0 and of course HDMI output.

The Mobii ION 230 will be equipped with a standard 6-cell 4400mAh battery that should keep it running for up to 4 hours and it will come with Linux as the standard OS. It will be available in white, black, yellow, red and lime colors and should hit retail during 3rd week of July, but we managed to hear that some retailers might even get it earlier, maybe even in the first half of July.

The new Mobii ION 230 should hit retail with a €349 price tag depending on the retail/etail shop. This price hasn't been carved in stone just yet, so it could end up "around" the €349 mark.
