Three new ULV models

Asus has announced a new range of notebooks under its U-series brand and in total Asus is going to unleash seven new models of which three will feature a selection of Intel ULV processors. Four of the models will also have discrete graphics of which three will use Nvidia and one ATI.

The new models consist of the U20A, the U80V, the U50G, the U81A, the U51vg, the UX50V and finally the UX30. Out of the seven, the two most interesting models are the UX50V and UX30 as these feature flush fitted LED backlit LCD panels which is a first from Asus. These are also two of the three models using ULV processor, with the third one being the U20A. All three models will feature the Intel Core2 Duo SU9400, Core2 Solo SU3500 and Pentium SU2700 processors, with the U20A also getting the Celeron L723, while the UX50V and UX30 will also have the Core2 Duo SU9600 and Core 2 Solo SU3300.

All three ULV models will feature the Intel GS45 chipset, although the UX50V will also feature a Geforce G 105M with 512MB of memory. All three models will support up to 4GB of DDR2 memory, up to 500GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR. The UX50V features a 15.5-inch display, while the UX30 has a 13.3-inch display and the U20A has a 12.1-inch display.

The other models will be available with a range of Core 2 Duo or the Pentium T4200. With the exception of the U81A, all of the remaining models features the PM45 chipset, with the U81A featuring the GM45 chipset. The U80V features a Mobility Radeon HD4570 with 512MB DDR2 memory, while the last two models features a Geforce G 105M with 512MB of memory. The remaining spec are similar to the ULV models.

The only picture provided by Asus so far seems to be of the UX30 which looks really good in our opinion, although it's a little bit too early to draw any conclusions from a single image. There's also no word on pricing or a release date as yet, so we'll see if these new models will be worth the asking price as well.
