Too much choice anyone ?

Samsung
has launched eight new cameras, thoroughly revamping its NV, L and I series.

Let's start off with three four models from the NV series, the NV4, NV30, NV40 and NV24. The metallic NV4 with non-protruding 38-114mm lens has an 8.2 megapixel 1/2.5" CCD and electronic image stabilization. It's capable of filming movies in 800 x 592 at 30 FPS. Highest ISO sensitivity is 3200, shutter speed ranges from 15 to 1/2000s, the 230k pixel screen measures 2.5-inches, as does the rest of the NV series. It's the smallest of the bunch, measuring 94.5 x 57 x 17.5 mm.

The NV30 and NV40 still sport Samsung's classic NV matte black retro look. The NV40 has a 10 megapixel sensor and dual, optical and electronic image stabilization, while the NV30 uses an 8 megapixel sensor and has electronic stabilization. The 37-111mm equivalent lens is slightly wider than that on the NV4, but we're guessing that it has much better aperture than the non protruding lens of the NV4. Shutter speed is 4 to 1/1500 seconds, max ISO value is 3200. Video mode is VGA at 30 FPS and both double digit NV cameras measure 94.5 x 59 x 18.8 mm.

The ten megapixel NV24 is Samsung's first HD camera, capable of filming 720p video at 30 FPS. It also has a new, more responsive, 2.5” AM-OLED screen.

The NV4 will retail at £149, NV30 at £179 and NV40 at £199. They're expected to ship in February, while the NV24 will cost 249 Quid and it will ship in March.

The i8 is a different affair altogether. This cute, playful little thing is being marketed as a Personal Multimedia Player and offers you an MP3 player along with a World Tour Guide which should help you out on the road, well sort of. Apart from these entertaining features, it's has a spacious 2.7" touchscreen, an 8.1 megapixel sensor and it will retail at £149 starting in February.

Moving on to the three stylish and affordable L series cameras, ranging in price from £99 for the L100, through £129 for the L110 to £149 for the L210. All three have digital image stabilization and face recognition. The L100 and L110 use an 8 megapixel sensor, while the L210 is a ten megapixel camera. Frankly, the lowest priced L100 looks like a good deal, and investing more in the L110 and L210 is probably not worth it.

The L100 should hit the shelves in February, while the L110 and L210 are coming in March.
