Games Convention 07: Mod level for UT3

We were actually able to see and play the Ageia's new project where they are using the PhysX enigne on Unreal Tournament III.

It is just one mod level but thats a great start: In order to make PhysX to look good on the UT3 engine, Ageia  needed to do a little modification and fine tunning to the Unreal Engine 3.0. The demo looks really good and the physics in the game looks awaresome. The mod level is called Tornado, and the name makes perfect sense. The actual PhysX tornado that is featured in the level is looking great when it gets in interaction with other objects in the level.

Almost entire level is destructable, well not everything, but certainly a lot. The in-game tornado can actualy affect the rocket or other amunition and even throw some kind of concrete block on you. If you get too close it can even suck you in which means almost certain death.

The actual mod will be available sometime after Unreal Tournament III comes out. This is certainly the game that will make Ageia proud with its PhysX card, since the Unreal Engine 3.0 will find its way into many future titles. This game might actually make you want to buy PhysX card and put it under your Xmas tree. The time will tell, but we can tell you that it really looks and feels good.
