Capcom has struck a deal with Gears of War developer Epic to allow two of their main characters from the franchise to make an appearance in Lost Planet 2. The news was announced at the Xbox event in Japan by developer Capcom.

The news in some ways is surprising, but it is known that Lost Planet 2 developer Jun Takeuchi has in the past described his admiration for the Epic developed franchise. We suspect that this could have been the news that Cliffy B has been tweeting about lately.

It is unknown if Fenix and Santiago will get a real part in the game or more of just a bit part in the Lost Planet 2 story line. Some sources are describing the involvement as downloadable characters that will be exclusive content just for Xbox 360 owners, but the duo will have no actual involvement in the story mode of the game.

The news at any rate is interesting, given Capcom is working with Epic on this. We wonder if there is going to be any future cross-pollination between the two companies on future projects? It could prove interesting if Epic were to work with characters from a Capcom property.
