Criterion moving on from last Burnout title

Electronic Arts developer Criterion Games has confirmed in a Twitter posting on the company’s Twitter page that there will not be any additional downloadable content for Burnout Paradise. The news comes as a disappointment to fans of the game that have been addicted to the title since its release. The game still has quite an active following, and the game has grown since the title was moved to value pricing.

Burnout Paradise was released about two years ago and the game has gone through some ups and downs as far as the delivery of downloadable content. Criterion has delivered a variety of both free and pay content since the game was released, and worked to improve and update the game. Still, the promised Big Surf Island downloadable add-on for the title arrived late after many months of being postponed and delayed. It was well received when it finally arrived, and in our opinion it was well worth the wait. As the company proclaimed on its Twitter posting, they did deliver much more downloadable content than most thought the game would get.

As for the moving on part, little is actually known about what Criterion is working on. While the company has claimed that rumors of the studio working on a new Need for Speed title are incorrect, our sources continue to tell us that at least the studio has some level of involvement in a NFS title that is said to be unique to the franchise. The fate of another Burnout title is unknown, but some believe that another installment in the franchise is in the works. Like many developers, enough time has passed since their last release that they are likely to announce something new at E3 this year; and our sources suggest that this is the case.
