Japan will get it in March, however

It seems that the mystery surrounding the North American release of Gran Turismo 5 has taken another interesting turn, with the news that despite the fact that it will arrive in the Japanese market in March of 2010, North American (as well as European) players can expect a much longer wait. SCEA claims that they have no plans to release it in the North American market anytime soon, according to our sources.

From what we are hearing now, a summer 2010 release is at least possible, and the June 2010 timeframe has been thrown around for North America. No one seems to have any clue on when it will appear in Europe.

While we continue to hear that Sony would like to see the game in the North American market by June 2010, it doesn’t seem that there is any real sense of urgency to make sure that this is the case. As with all things Gran Turismo, you have to wonder how much of it is truth and how much is it is smoke and mirrors.

At this point our best guess is that you will see it at some point during the summer of 2010 in both North America and Europe. Fans in those areas will just have to be patient till then, or struggle to get their hands on a Japanese copy and a system that is able to play it.
