Sony could care less about Javelin glitch

PS3 version will have to wait till 1.06 for fix

As we have been following all of the complaints about the Javelin glitch or cheat (depending on your point of view), our sources tell us that Sony could care less about the issue that has Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players in an uproar.

From what we hear, Sony’s official position is that despite the swift and decisive action that Microsoft is taking to combat the problem, Sony does not believe that banning people for using the glitch is the answer and plans to take no action against those using and taking advantage of the glitch.

While developer Infinity Ward has admitted that the 1.05 patch for the PlayStation 3 has already been approved and going out, the trouble is that the 1.05 patch for the PlayStation 3 does not address or resolve the Javelin problem; and PlayStation 3 players will have to wait until the 1.06 update is released to address this problem on the PlayStation 3 platform.

According to our sources, it is unknown at this time what the actual release date of the 1.06 patch for the PlayStation 3 might be. Infinity Ward is freely admitting that the fix is in the pipeline and that it is coming. It is also rumored that the 1.06 patch will address some additional issues within the world geometry to prevent players from getting stuck, as well as a couple of other issues.

It really depends on which side of the fence you sit and how you believe that companies should deal with players who break the rules using glitches and cheats to their advantage. While some do not like the heavy handed approach that Microsoft is taking, we believe that it is far better than the hands off approach that Sony seems to favor. Cheaters need to be policed and dealt with to make it fair for those who play; and at least from where we sit, the something that Microsoft is doing beats the nothing that Sony is doing.
