PC Bad Company 2 Beta players will wait

DICE has pushed back the beta for the PC version of Battlefield Bad Company 2, despite the fact that PlayStation 3 owners are already playing the beta now on that platform. While the news as to why the PC beta is being delayed isn’t all bad, it basically boils down to the fact that DICE needs more time to finish polishing the PC Beta prior to starting the testing.

Some of the areas where DICE is finishing the initial polish have to do with the PC specific enhancements, such as the addition of support for up to 32 players, which is up from the 24 that is found in the console version. In addition, the company has to get the dedicated server support in place and ready prior to the beta.

One thing that will sure to be a hit with PC players is the news that DICE has confirmed that BFBC2 will offer support for DirectX 9, 10, and 11. While the DirectX 10 and 11 support will only be available for the Windows Vista and Windows 7 platforms, the news is exciting nonetheless. Of course, the PC version will also support the use of the Logitech LCD Keyboards as well as joysticks for flying.

Form the latest that we are hearing, the PC beta will arrive very early next year; with those in the know suggesting it will be released at some point in January. While the beta will only include one map for testing, it is said that it will offer more than enough playability to allow PC gamers to test BFBC2 and push it to the limit. Early buzz continues to be positive, but DICE will need to hit it out of the park with the release of BFBC2, we believe, in order to attract players’ attention away from CODMW2.
