So much for IWNet curbing cheating

One of the main excuses that developer Infinity Ward used to explain the lack of dedicated server support for the PC release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 was that it would be able to curb the hacks and cheating with the new system. It would appear that although it was only released a couple of days ago, the first batch of hacks and cheats are already hitting the PC version of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

The Call of Duty hacking website has published a video that shows their latest hack in action. The hack appears when activated, shows the position of all players, reduces recoil on the guns and adds aiming/firing accuracy. Of course, while some might claim that the video is an elaborate hoax, based on what we can tell we just don’t think so. Of course, as you might expect, the guys responsible for this hack are selling it.

The problem is now that because Infinity Ward has taken away the dedicated servers, there is no way to ban or kick players that are cheating. It would appear that the anti-cheat technology measures that Infinity Ward has deployed aren’t working or picking this up yet. The news isn’t at all encouraging for the initial release of the PC version, and will provide yet another reason for PC players to be disappointed.
