Hot off of the success of The Beatles Rock Band, it could be that this is a preview of what could be the arrival of other artist-centric titles, much in the way that Guitar Hero has done with Aerosmith, Metallica and the latest arrival, Van Halen.

Sources tell us that ongoing discussions appear to be taking place with Queen about a future Rock Band exclusive installment. While our sources say that it would be a dedicated Queen Rock Band title in the near future, but it is still a bit from a done deal.

Brian May, guitarist from Queen, is confirming the existence of the talks, while at the same time talking up the appearance by the band in Lego. Queen has been portrayed in the upcoming Lego Rock Band release, which is to be released shortly. Queen isn’t the only star to be captured in Lego in this upcoming title, as David Bowie and Iggy Pop are also said to be included in the game.

It seems that now more than ever many artists are looking for additional ways to extend their music into digital media like Rock band and Guitar Hero in order to drive new sources of revenue. Sales of catalog music continue to dwindle, and video games such as Rock Band and Guitar Hero do present new revenue streams. Previously, many artists viewed doing things in this genre as “selling out,” but it seems that this trend is now changing.
