It has been confirmed now that Electronic Arts had at least considered the possibility of bringing the Sega Genesis favorite, Road Rash, out of mothballs and bringing out a new High Definition version of the motorcycle racing combat title.

A technology demo has surfaced that at least shows some very early development and prototyping of what a Hi-Def next-generation version of Road Rash might look like. The early technology video isn’t complete and is missing a lot that would really reveal what kind of game the Road Rash HD as we call it, would be. We can certainly confirm, however, that it makes us long for a Road Rash revival.

From what we hear, EA had considered revising Road Rash for the next-generation consoles, and several technology proof of concept technology tests were made by the Warrington EA studio that no longer exists. From what we have been able to uncover, while some at EA were not opposed to the idea, it was thought that the timing wasn’t right.

As for the future, EA has apparently renewed the Road Rash trademark and we can only guess that we have not seen the last of Road Rash. We expect that if not for the next generation consoles, then maybe mobile devices such as the iPhone could host the next coming of Road Rash. We will continue to dig for what else we can uncover on this one.
