Halo franchise will continue to cash in

Microsoft has announced that in only two weeks on the shelf, despite the current economy, the company has managed to move 2.5 million copies of Halo 3: ODST in the first two weeks of its release. While some suggest that the purchase might have more to do with the access to the upcoming Halo: Reach beta that was part of the package, it seems that Halo fans are pleased with the purchase.

The excellent sales have translated into more growth in the Halo franchise with Halo: Reach in the pipeline already and a new comic book, anime series, and novel on the way, as well. This begs the question as to whether Microsoft will hail the return of its cash cow, “The Master Chief” in Halo. Reports suggest that odds are we have not seen the last of Master Chief; but it is unknown how he actually will return in the video game franchise or in the merchandising.
