Movie concepts for title in development

With all of the talk about CODMW2 and the current level of buzz about it, it isn’t surprising that some are already suffering from Call of Duty overload. It seems, however, that Infinity Ward is already planning for more chapters in the Call of Duty saga with the news that the company has trademarked the name for possible use as a movie title.

According to what we hear the Infinity Ward folks have been talking with Xavier Gens, who was the director of the Hitman movie, about the possibility of a Call of Duty movie. It seems that Robert Bowling, who is the Infinity Ward creative strategy quarterback, says that the meeting in Paris centered around a discussion of “game films,” but it is obvious what he was suggesting.

With all of the games that are being made into movies, it is likely that Call of Duty will at some point be made into a movie. While a lot of the films that have used gaming titles as subject matter have not exactly set the world on fire, a call of Duty movie could be an exception. With a lot of interesting elements to choose from among the COD titles, it might offer the freedom to wrap a good story around the COD franchise and create a movie worth watching. We will just have to wait and see, as we expect both the BioShock and World of Warcraft movies to hit the screen before a COD movie gets made.
