A lot of content for October 1 street date

Our sources
tell us that Sony has been hard at work to make sure that there will be plenty of content for buyers of the PSPGo to download on launch day. According to our sources, Sony expects to be able to offer as many as 225 digital versions of game titles, including full PSP titles as well as UMD games and Minis that can be downloaded from the PlayStation Network which will be the download source for the device.

In addition to the games, sources say that Sony has been hard at work on getting additional content ready and they are expected to offer over 2,300 movies for download as well as 13,300 television episodes.

Sources tell us that Sony is pulling out all of the stops to make sure that the launch of the PSPGo is successful, and they believe that it is necessary to make sure that ample content is available from day one to ensure that buyers have plenty to download for the new device.

Already some retailers are taking a sour grapes attitude toward the PSPGo and the direction that Sony is taking the device by making it exclusive to the digital downloads. Some retailers are already suggesting that they will not carry the device since there really is no repeat business with buyers returning to purchase software for the PSPGo. While some claim that they might see some business from those buying cards to use on the PlayStation Network to purchase content, the move to an all download platform just does not sit well with some retailers that are already complaining of low profit margins on both consoles and games. It remains to be seen if the majority of gaming retailers will embrace selling the device or not. So far, perhaps the gaming retailer with the most influence, GameStop, has already committed to stocking the PSPGo and is already taking pre-orders for it.
