Seems red tape is at least part of the problem

According to our sources, Microsoft seems to have a lot of problems getting MMO titles approved for release on the Xbox Live network. According to our sources it seems that Microsoft red tape is at least part of the issue.

MMO developer Cryptic Studios has an Xbox 360 version of Champions Online ready to go, but it seems Microsoft can’t work out all of the issues related to releasing an MMO title on the Xbox Live that uses the Xbox Live network.

While sources indicate that Microsoft seems to be working on it, no one really understands exactly what the problems are that the company is trying to address in order to get Champions Online certified for release. While some blame the more complex logistics that are involved in testing and certifying an MMO title for release, it does seem that Microsoft will have to solve this problem before the promised Final Fantasy title makes its way to the Xbox 360.

While no seems to want to talk about the delays, it is puzzling as to what exactly the problem is in getting Champions Online out the door. Sources claim that Cryptic has been working with Microsoft to get the problems resolved, but the studio just does not seem to have a solid understanding of what the actual issues involved actually are. Our sources tell us that Cryptic does hope that the red tape at Microsoft will resolve itself soon and the title will get a scheduled release date.
