The never ending story takes on a life of its own

In the latest court papers filed by 3D Realms, the developer claims that Duke Nukem Forever continues to be worked on. We are not sure exactly how 3D Realms is defining “work” these days, but we are hopeful that the judge in the case will ask 3D Realms this exact question.

At any rate, the never ending saga of Duke Nukem Forever seems to continue to have a life of its own. The latest revolution is that Take-Two continues to sink millions of dollars into the development of the title. According to the latest reports, another Duke game that is being called “Duke Begins” seems to have started development in 2007, but development was halted in April 2009 when negotiations between 3D Realms and Take-Two fell apart.

Some now believe that 3D Realms is holding “Duke Begins,” which was slated to appear on the console platforms, hostage to get Take-Two to continue to fund the development of Duke Nukem Forever. It is still very unclear as to what console systems Duke Begins was developed for or what exact content is contained in this title.

We don’t know about you, but we are getting a bit tired of all of the twists and turns of this drama-fest; but we can assure you that you have not heard the last of it. After all, development on DNF continues. Sheesh!
