DJ, Band and Ride will be expensive

Activision has released and confirmed some of the most anticipated titles to be released this year. The thing that all of these titles have in common is that they all will feature additional custom controller peripherals besides the game software itself.

First up is the DJ Hero, which will feature is own turntable controller that will be required to play the game. It is slated to arrive on October 27th, 2009 for $119.99.

Next is Band Hero, which will be available on November 17th, 2009 as a software only release and as a release bundled with all of the band instruments. The price of Band Hero will set you back $199.99 for the entire package. We are told that the Guitar Hero band instruments will work, so you can opt to buy the software only for $59.99, which will be released the same day.

The next chapter to be written in the Tony Hawk franchise will start on October 13th, 2009 when the new Tony Hawk Ride hits retailer shelves, with its motion sensing skateboard peripheral that will cost you $119.99.

While the current trend of adding specialized peripherals to titles will continue this year, another trend seems to be starting, as well. Higher cost titles and special editions seem to also continue to be on the agenda for the remainder of the year. Prices for the limited and special editions can range from $75 to over $100, depending on the title. The trend of high prices could be something that publishers regret, but the majority think they will do well with the higher priced offerings starting in the fall and heading into the holiday season.
