Despite suggestions that it would be free

Microsoft 1 Vs. 100 Live game show that has currently been in beta testing over the past couple of weeks was originally going to be free and supported by advertisers, or so we were told. Now, it appears that Microsoft might be changing its mind, or can’t find enough advertisers to support it.

From the whispers that we are hearing, while the game show on Xbox Live was supposed to be free for Xbox Live Gold subscribers, it would appear that they are at least considering the possibility of charging for it.  According to what we have seen, an option to buy a Season Pass for 1 Vs. 100 has appeared, but currently is not functional and may have already been removed by the time that you even read this. While it has been suggested that it could be an option that is offered to Xbox Live Silver users to allow them to play as well, it is currently unknown if this is the case.

While Microsoft has not commented publicly on what they ultimate plan is for 1 Vs. 100 once the beta has ended, it could be that the 13-week season might, in fact, be a pay to play situation in the end. According to some of the whispers that we have heard, it could be that a lot of the problem has to do with the tough economy and advertisers not wanting to part with dollars to advertise on something so new.

It remains to be seen what happens, but for certain 1 Vs. 100 itself is interesting and quite fun, if we do say so ourselves. However, we are not sure that if the company heads in the direction of paying to play that it will actually do as well as it seems to be doing in the beta.
