Every other year for fighting titles

Peter Moore always seems to have some sort of a plan, and his new plan to fight the overexposure of some titles that don’t need a refresh every year will be tested with his master plan to release fighting titles in alternate years.

Fight Night and the just announced EA Sports MMA title will take turns fighting for domination of the video game fighters. The decision that the titles don’t need a refresh every year also will give developers more time to enhance the products and build better features. It has also been suggested that it will give the title a longer shelf and sales life by releasing each title in alternating years.

So, as things stand today, you can look for Fight Night 4 this year and the Fight Night 5 in 2011. The new MMA title will arrive in 2010 and then again in 2012. To make it easy to remember, think odd years Fight Night, even years MMA.

Some are already questioning the possible success for the Electronic Arts MMA title, with THQ having already locked up the UFC license for the immediate future; but some believe that enough big name MMA stars exist that are not aligned with UFC which should allow EA Sports to turn out a good title. According to reports, Moore was seen attending a Strike Force MMA show and it has been suggested that Strike Force and Affliction could be two of the promotions that could license talent and branding to the new EA MMA game.
