Will include the motion sensing skateboard

Fans looking forward to the release of the next generation chapter in the Tony Hawk saga will be pleased to know that Activision is planning for the game to hit retailer shelves on October 13th, 2009.

As we have told you previously, Tony Hawk: Ride will introduce a first of a kind innovative motion sensing skateboard controller to play the game with as part of the package. Of course, innovation will not come cheap, with Tony Hawk: Ride retailing for $119.99.

The new motion sensing skateboard uses a variety of accelerometers and motion sensors to put players in the action. The move to the new motion sensing skateboard is a far cry from the previous complex button combinations that were required in prior Tony Hawk titles. Activision claims that players of all skill levels will be able to hop on the motion sensing skateboard and play.

We have to wonder if at $120.00, the game is good enough to attract the attention necessary from gamers to be truly successful. Still, the march by publishers and developers to add new ways to control titles and put the player even more into the game is interesting, but the high price may cause many to buy something cheaper instead. Expect to hear more about Tony Hawk: Ride during E3 and we predict that the motion sensing skateboard could be the talk of the show.
