2K Games turns to experienced developer

2K Game has turned to the experienced multiplayer developer Digital Extremes to handle the development for the multiplayer component of BioShock 2. The Canadian-based developer has much experience working with both the Unreal Engine as well as the development of multiplayer titles on a variety of platforms.

While it has been indicated for some time that BioShock 2 would add some multiplayer support, which would be a first for the franchise, no additional details have been released as to what this support would include or if 2K Games Boston is developing the multiplayer addition to the franchise.

The decision to enlist Digital Extremes to build the multiplayer support could really be a big boost to BioShock 2 which is already one of the most anticipated titles that is currently in development. While it is unknown what the BioShock 2 multiplayer might include we have to suggest that with Digital Extreme’s rich history in multiplayer game development, this could make an already good franchise that much better.

Although 2K Games has yet to confirm it, we suspect that you will being hearing more about the specifics of the multiplayer support for BioShock 2 in the E3 time frame if they are able to sort it out. We continue to hear that the game schedule is still on track for a release later this fall or for the holiday season, at the latest.
