Microsoft is trying to keep it fair

In another round of banning, the powers that be on the Xbox Live team have turned their attention to those who deliberately cheat at Gears of War 2 to rack up Achievements. This is not the first time that action has been taken to keep play fair by the Microsoft team.

According to reports, the players in question have unlocked specific Gears of War 2 achievements through use of an unauthorized hack. Sources suggest that the majority of these hacks were created by hacking saved game files, but we have been unable to confirm that this was actually the case.

Beyond saying that they will be resetting the Gamerscores of the offending players, no actual specifics on how long the players in question will be banned or if the resetting of their Gamerscore was penalty enough is known.

It just does not pay to cheat; and cheers to Microsoft for at least attempting to try to provide a level playing field and swiftly dealing with cheaters when they are discovered.
